Evaluation and Impact
Through these various lines of research, we aim to gain a deeper understanding of the impact of our constituency days and learn how we can reach an even wider range of people.

How We Measure Impact
Hallo Bundestag is guided by an extensive research project. An interdisciplinary team evaluates the process, examines existing barriers to participation, and measures the impact of Constituency Days on participants, members of parliament, and society as a whole.
The goal is to systematically gather insights into the impact of our Constituency Days on the political participation of various societal groups, the formation of political opinions, and the willingness to engagewith other perspectives. The research findings directly inform the further development and institutionalization of the Constituency Day format.
The levels outlined above will be assessed as follows:

Impact on participants:
Survey before, during, and 6 weeks after the Constituency Day: Does participation in a Constituency Day change behavioral patterns and (political) attitudes?
Participant observation: What do people need to contribute effectively to discussions? What dynamics develop within a group during discussions on political topics?
Interviews with participants: How do different people experience the Constituency Day? What do they need to engage in constructive dialogue in other contexts as well?

Impact on the participants’ social circles:
Survey of participants’ friends, family, and coworkers: Does hearing about the Constituency Day have an impact on other people who did not participate?

Impact on non-participating residents:
Survey of non-participating residents in the constituency who do not know the participants: Does simply being informed about a local Constituency Day change the attitudes of people who did not participate?

Impact on participating Members of Parliament:
Survey of Members of Parliament: What do they find particularly enriching about participating in a Constituency Day? Which aspects do they incorporate into their future work?

How can we improve our approach?
Systematic survey of people who decline to attend: What would they need to participate in the constituency day? Why do they decide to not participate?
Analysis of feedback and different outreach methods: At what stage and through which channels can we truly reach the people who are often not heard in public discussions?
Curious about what we’ve already learned from the evaluation of our previous projects?
