An Electoral District Day is a one-day citizens' council at the constituency level.
That is:
Participants are chosen by lot.
Participants meet for the Electoral District Day. There is professional moderation to ensure that everyone has their say and feels comfortable.
A federal policy issue is discussed together.
The participants receive information material that has been tested by scientific institutes.
The discussions are based on the information material and the individual experiences of the participants.
In the morning, the selected participants discuss the topic in small groups and provide feedback on the topic to the politicians. In the afternoon, the members of parliament join them and the feedback is discussed together.
